Let's navigate across the Pond to look at baseball in England, especially in Greater London
I have been interested in England, especially London, since I was a child. There was the history, the "British Invasion" of the 1960's, the fashion fads of the'60's, the fancy cars, and now East Enders. My other love is baseball and hopefully here I can combine the two. There are several teams that play in Greater London in places like Richmond, Enfield, and Essex. Also in other cities like Liverpool and Oxford.

This is part of a campaign to get former Dodger (Brooklyn and Los Angeles) player and later manager of the Washington Senators and New York Mets elected to the Hall of Fame in Copperstown. Gil was a fine player with the Dodgers, and an excellent manager for the New York Mets. Being elected to the Hall of Fame would be the ultimate honor. For baseball fans, it would be the equivalent to being buried in Westminster Abbey or Saint Paul's Cathedral.

The site gives us the history of British baseball, and links to the American Major Leagues, the British Baseball Federation, and other interesting sites. Baseball great Bobby Thomson, a native of Glasgow, had visited Edinburgh for the dedication of a baseball diamond (pitch) named in his honor. The above photo shows Bobby with members of the Edinburgh Diamond Devils at the dedication.
Refresher: On October 3, 1951 Bobby Thomson hit a home run to propel the New York Giants into the World Series after trailing the Brooklyn Dodgers for most of the season. It is one of the memorable moments in Major League Baseball. Here are links to the event on youtube.com:
